What conditions can chiropractic treat?

Chiropractic can relieve pain related to the neck, back, shoulder, arm, hand, hip, leg and foot pain. Conditions such as arthritis, degenerative disc disease, frozen shoulder, muscle spasms, sciatica, numbness and tingling of the extremities, plantar fascitis, sprain or strains, and tennis elbow can be relieved by chiropractic treatment.

If I have had neck or back surgery is it safe for me to receive chiropractic treatment?

Yes. The mechanics of your body change when you have surgery on your neck or back. Chiropractic treatment is important to keep your joints moving properly to prevent injury to other areas of your spine. Depending on the type of surgery, treatment is usually administered to the joints surrounding the surgical site.

Once I begin chiropractic treatment will I have to be treated forever?

There is no evidence that patients become addicted or dependent on chiropractic treatment. Most patients find it beneficial to have regular chiropractic treatment because they feel so great after an adjustment. We will determine if chiropractic care can treat your condition by learning your health history, performing a physical examination and possibly x-rays. If we determine that chiropractic can benefit you, we will then estimate a recommended treatment period. Every case is different and each patient’s response time varies.

Can children receive chiropractic care?

Absolutely! Children and infants benefit from chiropractic care. Because a child's body is constantly growing and changing, it is important to keep their joints moving in the right direction. Treatment can prevent postural problems that begin early in life. Children tend to respond more quickly and require less treatment than do adults.

Can chiropractic help children with ear infections, colic, asthma, sleeping trouble etc…?

Children are more prone to these conditions because their bodies are young and have not had the chance to build up their immune system. Does chiropractic treatment hurt?

Chiropractic treatment rarely hurts and usually provides instant relief. Some patients experience some discomfort when beginning treatment, but it shortly subsides and they become pain free.

What is the noise that is created with an adjustment?

The joints in your spine are surrounded by a capsule. When a joint fixation is present, inflammation gets trapped in the joint and causes adhesions to form. During an adjustment the goal is to release those adhesions by slightly gapping the joint. The noise comes from the gapping of the joint and the release of the adhesions.

What methods are utilized?

Dr. Mace uses a diverse array of techniques because each patient's response varies. She treats your entire spine and the extremities if needed. Gonstead, Motion Palpation, Thompson, Diversified, and Activator techniques are used. In addition, she uses trigger point and myofascial release therapy. Dr. Mace also uses electric muscle stimulation and ultrasound to speed up healing time.
